DIVORCE (DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE)
A dissolution of a marriage (divorce) is the formal ending of a marriage. By taking this action, the Court typically arranges, if necessary, parental rights, child support, spousal maintenance (alimony), the division of property acquired during the marriage and the distribution of debts and assets acquired during the marriage.
In the State of Arizona, there are essentially two types of divorces (dissolution of marriage): Uncontested Divorces (where both parties agree on the terms) and Contested Divorces (where the parties disagree on the terms). Beyond this basic type of divorce, the establishment has to be made if it is a Divorce with Minor Children (children the parties have in common), or Divorce without Minor Children (the parties have no children in common, including adoptive children).
